About Gerry

Gerry Presar MS, LMFTAEffective therapy is all about understanding. I bring not only my experience and strengths as a therapist, but also a lifetime of personal and professional experience in many different realms. I leverage my real-world background together with my marriage and family therapy expertise to help understand and address your real-world issues.

In my practice as a marriage and family therapist I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people – couples, individuals and families – each bringing their own issues and perspectives. Each client is unique, and no matter which group you may belong to, I partner with you in an individually tailored approach to work toward greater health and happiness for yourself and your relationships.

My Approach to Counseling

My initial approach with new clients is always a practical one: I focus on providing priority attention to the issues that bring you through my door, addressing any immediate crises to insure safety and establish stable ground for moving forward. There is no doubt that as counseling progresses, it can at times be difficult, but with this effort comes the possibility of change and growth.

My ongoing approach to counseling is founded on the belief that we are all capable of change and growth. During the course of counseling, problems diminish as previously hidden possibilities and strengths are uncovered. My role is as a partner in the process of discovering solutions to problems, establishing a vision of hope for the future, and building a path to getting there. At times that path may be a straightforward one involving brief therapy, and other times it may take more time to reach your goals – but you can get there.
